Week #24 update

As I talked about several weeks ago, my updates will continue to be sparse during the summer months. This week I am back to my routine following a great trip with the teenagers to a youth conference in Holland,MI. Here are several things from the last two weeks:

  • I played football in Lake Michigan with some of the guys last week, after an hour of running, jumping and diving in waist deep water, my legs and hips were shot. However, it was awesome to be able to keep up with the kids for that long!!
  • While at the Christ in Youth conference last week, I had the chance to run in to several people I only see occasionally. It was great to see their reactions, and get the chance to retell my story! They all told me how they love keeping up with my story, which I still can’t get over, but a shout out to those friends that I saw last week that read my blog!
  • I wore “the Shirt” in public for the first time last Sunday!! It was an awesome day to get to wear it to church and share it with so many people who have been a great encouragement to me!
  • I had to stare down some of my fiercest temptations this week, we had breakfast at Dunkin’ Doughnuts one morning, and Pizza Hut that night. That was not an easy day, but it felt so great to stare those foods down and win the battle of wills!
  • My weight loss journey is now on the HMR national site. You can click here and read it for yourself!
  • I sat in a booth at a restaurant yesterday, and when I sat down I thought to myself, “wow, these booths are huge!” it was just really nice not to have to squeeze into a booth!
  • I had my two-week weigh in today and I am happy to say that I weighed in at about 293 pounds!! That is the lightest that I have been my adult life! You can see the details of this week numbers here! That also means that I was able to reach my goal of being under 300 pounds by my birthday.

Some random thoughts for the week

I have had one of those weeks where you have several odd things happen to you and when you string them all together and they make for an odd week. It all started yesterday when I went into a resturant that I used to frequent, but when they built a new one closer to the house I quit going in their as often. I was meeting someone on that side of town so I was back in their again yesterday. I walked in the door and the same manger was there as well a couple of his workers, needless to say I had to reintroduce myself to them and they were shocked and in complete awe of my weight loss. After I sat down a complete stranger came over to me, she had overheard my converstion with the manger about my weight loss and wanted to hear all about it. We stood there and talked for 20 mins talking about my weight loss journey, how the diet worked and where I want to go from here. The event rememinded me how big of a deal losing 150 pounds is, and what an inspiration my story is.

I noticed it has been way to long since I posted a real set of “mug shots” so here are a fresh set.

Week #22 update

I really must apoligize for not having an update last week. The summer camp season has started and I was at camp with senior highers last week. The week was exahausting, but very rewarding as well. The good news is that i was able to stay 100% in the box the entire week. I mean in retrospect when I look back at it camp cafeteria food does not rate with hot wings or burgers, and if I can resist them then that should have been no problem, and it wasn’t!

I was able to do a couple of things while at camp that I normally wasn’t able to do. I played ultimate freesbee with all the kids for about an hour and a half one afternoon, and then played soccer the next day! I was so excited to actually be in the game that I didn’t notice that I really was acttually bad at it…haha.

These two weeks were also really sucesfull on the weight loss front as well in the two weeks I was able to lose 10.3 pounds, bringing my total up to 151.1!! I am so pumped to cross another huge milestone like this! You can see my complete numbers here.

I am off to another wild adventure with teenagers next week, so an update may not be likely, but you can rest assured that I will be in the box and on the way to more weight loss sucess!
